Come hang out with fellow herbal students to connect and learn through roundtable discussions.

We will be watching the CHC 2023 video - Sacred Smoke: Crafting incense from local plants for healing with Maria Recchia, followed by a discussion.

Since time immemorial, humans from all around the world have used plants to make fragrant smoke for disinfecting, energetic cleansing, blessing, protection, relaxation, dreamwork, etc. In this talk, Maria will explore the many plant species growing near her home in New Brunswick that can be used to make fragrant smoke, with an emphasis on naturalized European plants, abundant native species, and some common garden herbs. We will address how to avoid appropriation from Indigenous cultures and reconnect with the use of sacred smoke from the European traditions.

Bring your thoughts, questions, or whatever you’d like to share with us. Each participant will get a chance to share with the group.
